Stanford, Calif. - Senior Tim McNeill won NCAA individual championships on pommel horse and parallel bars Saturday evening at Stanford's Maples Pavilion. The titles are McNeill's third on pommel horse and second on parallel bars in four years at California, bringing his career total to five -- the most in Cal school history. McNeill notched a 15.625 on pommel horse and 15.650 on parallel bars to successfully defend his 2007 titles on the same events.

"Tim was really on tonight. It was the best pommel horse performance of his life and the best parallel bars of his life," California head coach Barry Weiner said. "Tim won by 0.650 on pommel and 0.700 on parallel bars, those score differentials are unheard of. He just dominated."

Senior Colin Christ earned All-America honors on parallel bars, where he took eighth with a 14.275. Senior Kyle Brady also advanced to Saturday evening's individual championships on parallel bars and just missed earning All-America honors with a ninth-place finish of 13.475. Kyson Bunthuwong was 10th on p-bars with a 13.200. Tyler Block qualified on still rings and finished ninth, scoring a 15.000, which was just 0.050 short of All-America status.

McNeill is the first Golden Bear to win two NCAA titles two years in a row. McNeill's titles on pommel horse and parallel bars were a successful defense of the championships he won in 2007 on those apparati. The two national titles mark the second and third national title that California has won in the 2007-08 school year. With his first-place finishes, McNeill earned All-America honors on the events.

"I wasn't thinking about winning the most titles in Cal history, I just focused on doing my routines to the best of my ability," McNeill said. "I could not have asked for a better performances and scores on pommel horse or parallel bars."

Despite his scores not being career bests, McNeill was extremely pleased with the results in his last NCAA Championship meet.

"I knew the judging was going to be a lot more strict than a regular-season dual meet," McNeill said. "But I focused like a normal meet, and I was very happy with my scores."
