Jeff Tedford Quotes Following Marshawn Lynch Being Drafted

April 28, 2007

"He's very powerful; he can run inside and run outside, and he has speed to break long runs. He has unbelievable balance and can get to full speed very quickly. He runs with a wide-base and he's very fast, that wide-base accounts for a lot of his balance. He has tremendous acceleration, inside-outside, below pad level, physical, he has great moves. As a receiver, he catches the ball as well as any receiver. He has a good understanding of pass routes, swing routes, downfield routes, out of the back field, everything; he adjusts very effortlessly. He's a tremendous talent."

"I think Marshawn is well equipped to fit into any style of offense. Our [offense] is broad and diverse. He has been asked to do a lot of different things. He is a very intelligent player."

"He is a very quick learner; that comes along with great instincts and great feel for the game. He is very bright and very intelligent. He can take what's on the [chalk] board and make it happen on the football field. He doesn't need to have a lot of reps and he can take it from the classroom very easily."

"Not surprising [to see him drafted at No. 12]. He deserves to be in the same breath with those people at the top of the draft. I think he's one of the best football players in the country. I was looking 7-15. I think where he went is perfect. I think he'll have a great career at the next level. I am very proud of him and real happy for him."

"Part of his makeup is to take things lightly, but he does have a real strong competitive streak to him."
