Cal Football Pushes Back Start of Spring Ball

March 14, 2008

BERKELEY - The California football team has pushed back the start of its spring ball, head coach Jeff Tedford announced on Friday. Originally scheduled to kickoff this Monday, the Golden Bears will now open action on Monday, March 31.

The original schedule featured one week of practice followed by a week off for spring break and then three more weeks of practice. The updated schedule begins on March 31st and goes straight through for four weeks, wrapping up the 15-practice slate on Saturday, April 26. All practices are closed to the public except for the April 12 Cal Day practice, sponsored by Peterson Tractor.

Tedford said that the change in the schedule would be more beneficial for the team and the additional time will allow some players to recover further from injuries and participate fully in spring ball.

Season tickets for the 2008 Cal Football schedule are currently available by visiting www.CalBears.com or by calling 1-800-GO-BEARS. The Bears open the 2008 season on Aug. 30, hosting Michigan State. Other games on the Cal home slate include the 111th edition of the Big Game vs. Stanford, UCLA, Oregon, Arizona State, Washington and Colorado State.
