No. 2 California Defeats No 4. Stanford in the Big Row

BERKELEY, CALIF. - The California Golden Bears won the Schwabacher Cup, winning all three of the races in the dual competition against Stanford, Saturday morning at Redwood Shores.

In the varsity eight race, the two crews were stroke for stroke for the first 1000 meters. But during the second half of the race Cal pulled away from the Cardinal, finishing with a 3.3 second margin of victory.

The Cardinal lost to Cal by more than three seconds. In the second varsity eight race, the Bears defeated Stanford by an open water margin, 6.7 seconds. The Cal men's crew team finished off the sweep of Stanford with a 18 second win over the Cardinal in the freshman eight race.

No. 2 California will next face No. 1 Washington on Montlake Cut, in Seattle Wash.
