Sophomore (2007): Secured a new personal best in the 800 meters at the MPSF Indoor championships (1:50.21)...at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational, earned a time of 4:20.48 in the mile...in the 1500 meters at the Aggie Open, came in at 4:04.39... a member of Cal's 4x400 relay that turned in the best relay performance of the season (3:16.42, Brutus Hamilton Invitational).
Freshman (2006): Posted Cal's second-best 200 meters time of the season (1:51.77), when he took third at the Big Meet. (2005): Redshirted the outdoor season due to a hamstring injury. Cross Country: In 2007, claimed 15th place (26:48) in the San Francisco Invitational and 18th place (26:22) in the San Francisco State Invitational...in 2006, ran his season-best time (27:07.30, 24th place) at the Aggie Open...in 2005, Carey had a season-best time of 28:05 (26th place) at the S.F. State Invitational.
High School: A 2004 graduate of Albany High School...won the 800 meters at the NCS Meet of Champions...participated in the Junior Olympics...800 meters school-record holder with PR of 1:52.15...played one year of varsity soccer.
Personal: Born in San Francisco, Calif....parents are Van and Judith Carey...Van Carey is a professor of mechanical engineering at Cal...interdisciplinary studies major.
