2008 FOOTBALL CAMPS

"It is with great pleasure that I invite you and your son to join the entire Cal Football staff for one of our summer football camps. Our practice facilities and residence halls are located in one of the most beautiful college football settings in the country.

As the Head Football Coach of the University of California, I can assure you that we provide the finest instruction available from our outstanding coaching staff. Every member of our staff takes pride in their ability to teach and develop players, while providing a safe and positive environment in the process. Our low coach-to-player ratio ensures that each participant in attendance will receive the personal attention required to improve their skills. I expect the Cal Football Camps to be the most enjoyable experience of the summer.

Please review the following information provided; and we hope to have you join us this summer."

-- Jeff Tedford

All camp sessions are held at historic Memorial Stadium, Witter, Underhill and/or Maxwell Family Field, all located on the University of California, Berkeley campus.

FULL CONTACT CAMPS:

The Cal Football Full Contact Camps are available to participants entering high school (grades 9-12). This is a full-contact camp intended for the development of offensive and defensive skills at every position. Our camp includes an in-depth and comprehensive approach to the most up-to-date fundamentals, skills, techniques, and drills used at the highest levels of football.

Experienced coaches conduct all contact drills while maintaining the safest environment possible for all players participating. Only after a player demonstrates the ability to execute the fundamentals of tackling correctly will he be allowed to participate in a contact drill or scrimmage situation.

Although the camp focuses on specialized instruction for players at every position, all players in attendance have opportunities during each practice to compete as a member of a team against competition of similar skill and age level.

Following the second practice each evening, players are placed on "7-on-7 teams" for a two-day tournament. All offensive and defensive linemen compete nightly in drills designed to develop techniques specific to their particular positions.

Each camp session includes:

  • Intensive individualized instruction by position
  • Full contact scrimmages
  • 7-on-7 competitions
