Over the past 6 years the total number of Bear Backers has grown to record numbers, with nearly 8,000 donors making contributions last year. Donations to the annual fund also set a new benchmark, totaling more than $9.5 million which accounted for 30% of the revenues to the department.

Financial aid to Cal student athletes topped $8.5 million and team operations totaled more than $21 million in 2006-07. Your generosity assists in our mission of creating a model of what Division I athletics is all about.

Growing the Base
Our goal is to double the current number of Bear Backers over the next 10 years. We are actively seeking new ways to expand our base and continually improve the service we offer our donors. To find out about the many benefits associated with becoming a Bear Backer, click here.

We will be launching an Area Code Challenge beginning in April 2008 along with looking to begin a Collegiate Bear Backer club in the summer of 2008. These two initiatives will help us in jump-starting our campaign to increase the size of our organization.

Volunteerism
